Social Intelligence

The Social Intelligence program at Centreville School has been developed to address student difficulties with socialization and learning. Instruction centers on a number of themes including friendship, conflict resolution, social skills, teasing and bullying, feelings, self-esteem, peer pressure and transitions.

Multiple teaching modalities are utilized in the program including role-plays, videos, classroom discussion, various activities and games. The curriculum is tailored to the needs of each individual classroom through ongoing consultations with teachers. Multiple lessons related to specific classroom issues are implemented to address the needs of each class. Some examples would be lessons on loss, divorce, personal space, sharing, following directions, anxiety, text messaging, instant messaging, and social networking.
